Cultural Curiosities
Despite extensive interaction with the western world, the Fa’a Samoa (the Samoan way of life) still thrives. Samoan music, dance, and art, including the traditional tattoos, continue to gain popularity throughout the Pacific Islands. Samoans are very proud of their cultural heritage.
Samoan society is underpinned by the fa’amatai, a collective governance system based on the existence of extended families, Aiga, each with its own Matai (chief).
